Group exhibition entitled 'Fuel For Thought', including work by Leonce Raphael Agbodjelou, 3 May - 1 June 2019

An MA Curating student exhibition that draws on the complexities of relationships between people and the environment in the Niger Delta.

Oil companies have operated for decades in Nigeria, creating immense wealth for the economy, while exploiting the delta’s natural resources with vast consequences for its ecosystem and local peoples’ lives.

Fuel for Thought explores how artists are responding to the Niger Delta’s ever changing social and physical landscape through impactful artistic practices that take inspiration from local contexts and amplify these to address global issues. Artists in this thought-provoking show include Leonce Raphael Agbodjelou, Jelili Atiku, Sokari Douglas Camp, Elisa Dassoler, Ed Kashi/VII, Nnenna Okore, Alfredo Jaar and Jon Daniel.

Fuel for Thought is curated by the School of Philosophy and Art History’s MA Curating students Tori Agastina, Sahel D’halluin, Justine Jean, Na Na, Emily Osborne, Shanpu Qu, Effrosyni Souvermezoglu, Alexandra Torres, Cameron Williamson and Polly Rayner-Woodrow.
